When will I know what team my child(ren) is/are on?
Once registration closes it takes DUSC one and half to two weeks to organize teams. This process is no small feat. Please be patient and we will reach out to you via email when your team information is ready. Log into our PlayMetrics software/app to see your team(s) if they have been announced.
Why does it take so long to create teams?
Creating the teams doesn't take days...part of that process is making sure we have a coach for all teams. If you do not see a coach for your team, please consider volunteering by completing the form within our PlayMetrics software/app.
Where do I find my child(ren)'s team info?
Your team info will be posted in our PlayMetrics software/app.
Where do I find the coach name and contact info for our team?
Your coach and their contact info will be posted in our PlayMetrics software/app.
How are teams made?
Teams are created based on gender, grade, school, number of kids registered, friend requests (used when splitting up schools with large numbers of players), and parents that have volunteered to coach.
Could you please move my child to team XXX?
Every session someone reaches out for one reason or another: my player doesn’t get along with that player, practices for that team don’t work for our schedule, we don’t have a good relationship with the coach we were assigned to, and the list goes on. 9 times out of 10 it is a situation where, quite frankly, parents can take this as a learning opportunity and work through the situation with their kids as the session is only 6 weeks. If a situation is bad enough and you know there is a chance of where conflict may arise, whether with a coach or player, we ask that you make note this in the teammate request area during registration or reach out to our staff as soon as you register so we can make our own notes for when it comes time to build those teams. Knowing ahead of time makes our job easier. Practice times not working is not nogiable as that is a chance you take when registering along with registering for other sports. We rely on our volunteers and have to work with their schedules, or we wouldn’t be able to offer this program at all.
Rearranging teams is not easy and takes time along with the fact that those changes would affect numerous other teams. Balanced teams become unbalanced. Shirt orders are messed up and we have no extras to make it right. We also don’t usually have a waitlist of the specific grade or school needed to help make those changes work. And if we do have a waitlist those registered don’t reply in a timely manner from our experience to help get the “fix” completed. With years of experience running these sessions, we have to have rules in place so we can get our job done.
Once teams are built we have to move on to working with the coaches, making sure they have what they need to successfully coach the team along with the items we need from them to make sure our state and national requirements are met. All of this takes hours of time. Our admin staff member alone puts in 60-80 hours via email/chat/phone communications just between the time teams are announced to the start of the first games.
My child's team was split up, why don't you keep them together?
There are multiple circumstances that factor into splitting up a group of players from one school. There could be one or multiple factors:
-
too many kids registered for that grade and school
-
more coaches than needed and/or no coaches at all
-
a coach versus assistant coach
No matter how things get split up we just can't please everyone. Please try to understand.
Why would you put a group of kids from a south school with a north school?
This again has multiple factors that could affect the decision to do so:
-
not enough kids from one school
-
low numbers of kids from multiple schools
-
numbers work best after having to split a school
No matter how things get split up we just can't please everyone. Please try to understand.
Why is my player not on the same team as last session/year?
Building teams is a lot of juggling numbers. We have a minimum team size to reach. Teams are created based on gender, grade, school, number of kids registered, friend requests (used when splitting up schools with large numbers of players), and parents that have volunteered to coach. Please understand that friend, team, and coach requests cannot be guaranteed.
Can I get a different size shirt?
No. We order exactly the size you request on the registration form. We do not order extra shirts.
Why aren't my Pre-K and Kindergartener on the same team?
The Stack Sport system we use for registration limits the age ranges we can select. As a consequence we are required to have PreK and K groups under the same division during the registration process as they’re both considered “under 7”. However, when it comes to creating teams our program runs strictly on which grade you select your child to be in. All of the players who selected PreK are put on teams alphabetically (A, B C, etc) and all of the players who selected K are put on teams numerically (1, 2, 3, etc). This is primarily done due to the large skill and physical gap between both ages and separating them allows for a more enjoyable, supportive learning environment.
Why is my sixth grader on a fifth grade team?
Sixth grade is the year that kids start school soccer. Our registration for sixth graders isn't always enough so we will blend 6th graders into the fifth grade teams if necessary. We have done this for a few years and everything works well so the kids are still able to play soccer.
