Code of Conduct

Player Code of Conduct

Dakota United Soccer Club emphasizes the importance of mutual respect among players, teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials. This respect is achieved through fair play, adherence to regulations, acceptance of decisions without dispute, and refraining from verbal abuse. Players are encouraged to consistently strive for excellence, maintain sportsmanship in victory and defeat, and provide support to their teammates while acknowledging positive contributions from both teams.

Parent Code of Conduct

At Dakota United SC, we strive to create a positive, respectful, and fun environment for all players, families, and coaches. Please help us uphold this standard by following the guidelines below:

1. Supportive Behavior

  • Focus on praise and encouragement, not criticism or negative comments.

  • Applaud good effort and fair play, regardless of which team makes the play.

  • Emphasize that soccer is a learning experience, not just a competition.

2. Mindset Matters

  • Help reduce pressure — keep the focus on fun and development.
  • Encourage sportsmanship in victory and defeat. Players will remember how they felt more than the score.

3. Respect Coaches and Staff

  • Be kind and supportive of all coaches. Refrain from public criticism.
  • Let the coaches coach — don’t give directions to players during games.

4. Respect Referees

  • Do not question or confront referees during or after games.
  • Many referees are youth learning the game, just like our players.
  • Never enter the field to speak with a referee. Concerns can be shared with your coach or a club official at an appropriate time.

5. Sideline Conduct

  • Sit in designated spectator areas only.
    • Frosty Cup: Respect the posted seating areas at each of the respective areans.
    • DUSC League: Sit opposite the players and coaches unless asked to assist.
  • Respect the coaching space and allow for proper game flow.

6. Community Values

  • Treat all players, coaches, referees, and spectators with respect — regardless of race, gender, ability, or background.
  • Help us maintain a safe and family-friendly environment:
    • No smoking or vaping
    • No alcohol or drugs
    • No foul language or firearms

By following this Code of Conduct, you help ensure that all players have the opportunity to grow, enjoy the game, and build lasting confidence through soccer. Thank you for being a vital part of Dakota United SC!

Coaches Code of Conduct

As a coach with Dakota United SC, you are a leader and role model for our players and community. Whether you’re volunteering for league play or coaching during tournaments like the Frosty Cup, we ask that you follow these guidelines to ensure a positive and supportive soccer experience for all.

1. Be a Positive Role Model

  • Lead by example in sportsmanship, respect, and enthusiasm.
  • Encourage effort, growth, and fun over winning at all costs.
  • Celebrate the development of all players, not just the most skilled.

2. Communicate Constructively

  • Speak positively and respectfully to players, parents, referees, and opposing teams.
  • Provide instruction and feedback that builds confidence.
  • Refrain from yelling or using negative language during practices and games.

3. Prioritize Player Development

  • Focus on teaching fundamentals, teamwork, and game understanding.
  • Ensure every player has an opportunity to participate and improve.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all players.

4. Respect Referees

  • Accept calls without argument — referees are doing their best and many are learning.
  • Encourage your players and parents to respect referee decisions at all times.
  • Never confront referees during or after a match; direct any concerns to a club official.

5. Honor Game & Tournament Guidelines

  • Be punctual and prepared for all practices and games.
  • For Frosty Cup: Follow all sideline guidelines, adhere to the schedule, and comply with tournament procedures.
  • For DUSC League: Abide by all league rules and consult DUSC staff if you have any questions or need clarification.

6. Support the Club

  • Return all equipment in good condition at the end of the season or tournament.
  • Communicate any issues with player behavior, injuries, or scheduling to club staff promptly.
  • Help maintain clean fields and respectful sidelines.

7. Promote a Respectful Sideline

  •  Support parents in being respectful, encouraging spectators.
  •  Ask for help when needed, but keep the focus on players, not sideline coaching.
  • Address any inappropriate behavior calmly and through proper channels.

By upholding this Code of Conduct, you help create a rewarding and enjoyable soccer experience that reflects the mission of Dakota United Soccer Club — soccer for all, rooted in respect, effort, and fun.

Thank you for your dedication to our players and community!

  • Remain calm and composed, even under pressure.
  • Promote sportsmanship and help foster a love for the game.

Violations of the Code of Conduct by players, parents, coaches, or referees will be taken seriously. Dakota United Soccer Club reserves the right to remove any individual from the fields and/or impose appropriate sanctions. Such actions will be determined at the sole discretion of the Executive Director, Club Administration, and/or Board of Directors, based on their assessment of the violation.
